Whether you are a beginner or an experienced quilter, QT has a class just right for you. We have a spacious and well lit classroom, and great teachers who will share their knowledge with you. Check out our samples displayed around the classroom and select your next project.

 

Classes offered thru October 2010

• BEGINNER CLASSES: Learn to quilt or reacquaint yourself with the overall process.
• EAST DOES IT CLASSES: Simple quilts for beginners who just want to learn a little.
• CLASS SERIES: Class meets on a continual basis, usually 2-3 sessions.
• PROJECT CLASSES: usually a quick project, day retreat or with a guest instructor.
• TECHNIQUE CLASSES: generally some type of applique, paper piecing, or embroidery.
• CLUBS & OPEN SEW: Includes group meetings, show and tell, & classroom work time.

QT Quilt Basics:

Quilt Basics is a comprehensive, seven week class for the novice and/or slightly experienced quilter.  This class teaches a variety of quilting techniques including:

• Rotary Cutting and Machine Piecing
• Half Square Triangle Construction
• Folded Corner Method
• Paper Piecing
• Log Cabin Construction
• Machine Quilting
• Binding

Teacher Julie Peterson has designed "Fields of Minnesota" with the beginner student in mind.  Julie's hands-on teaching style gives beginners the confidence to learn.  Hand selected kits are available for this class project, perfect for those who aren't quite ready to make fabric selections for themselves.

Summer 2010:

Evening 6 – 8:30 pm:

Mondays: July 5, 12, 26, Aug 2, 9, 16, 23

Fall Session: Sept. 13, 20, 27 and Oct. 4, 11, 18 & 25

*A variety of hand selected kits are available, or staff can help you select fabrics to suit your personal preferences.

*Class payment is required at time of registration to guarantee space.  Cancellations made less than 2 weeks prior to first class date are non-refundable; store credit is issued for cancellations made prior to two weeks before first class.  Students needing more sewing (non-instructional) time are welcome to use the classroom when not in use - must call to make arrangements ahead of time.

*Sewing machines are available to use during class for free; must reserve at time of registration, use own thread and supplies, replace broken needles, set up and put away machine, and arrange for a quick lesson before class to learn to thread machine and wind bobbins.  Bobbins can be purchased for $.99 if you wish to take bobbin with you.

Cost: $68.00 (17.5 hours of instruction) plus pattern "Fields of Minnesota"...kits available!

Julie and Mary team up to teach a weekend full of projects perfect for your holiday gift list. From table runners to totes, these projects are both practical and fun. Class fee for the weekend includes instruction, sewing space at the Hampton Inn, and over 8 FREE patterns. We will have additional project demos to share.

Quilted Treasures 2011 Saturday Sampler - "QT Traditions

 

                      

We invite you to join “QT Traditions”, a Saturday Sampler program based on Quilted Treasures favorite traditional blocks. These familiar 12” blocks are simple to piece, and can be set into one of three options provided in the program. You can choose between Civil War and Batik fabric styles. Our Saturday Sampler meetings provide a good time to see what’s new at the shop, and see what our quilting friends have been up to. It’s a great time to meet friends for breakfast too!

 

Meeting times:

     Group 1 First Sat. of month 9:00                     Group 2 First Sat. of month 10:30

     Group 3 Third Sat. of month 9:00                    Group 4 Third Sat. of month 10:30

Note: Limited space in Groups 1 & 3.

QT Traditions program includes monthly meetings, 3 setting patterns, basic method sheet, block patterns and fabric packets. Registration takes place July-August for all 4 Groups. To join, simply complete the registration form and return it to Quilted Treasures. (Registration is not complete until registration form is returned, even if you are currently participating in our sampler groups.)  A registration fee of $15 is due on your first class day, September 4 or September 18.  (Credit card payment is not available; please do not send payment with form.)

 

$5 Rule: Block packets are free if:

You attend class during your designated group time with your completed block, No exceptions.

You may purchase your block packet anytime during the month before or after class for $5.

A friend can purchase your block for you before, during or after class for $5.

If your packet has not been purchased by the next month’s class, subsequent block packet is $5.

If you miss picking your packet up for 2 months, we will assume you have dropped from the program.

Easy Does It Series:

 

This series of classes is based on simple quilts, and is intended for beginners who just want to learn a little about making a quilt. Instantly gratifying, and pocket book friendly! Students would need to bring a sewing machine, rotary cutter and basic sewing supplies (i.e. scissors, pins). Cutting Mats and Irons will be available to use.

SMALL QUILT CLUB

Making a small quilt is like having a yummy dessert. Our class projects will be based on the books “Bits and Pieces” and “Remembering Adelia” or Lori Smith Fat Quarter Quilts patterns. Host Linda will share many methods that can be used for making small quilts. Techniques covered will include hand piecing, appliqué, paper piecing and curved piecing, dimensional appliqué, pattern resizing and more. Show and tell is encouraged, and scrappy fabric bundles will be available to club members.

QT Class Cancellation Policy

• Store credit will be issued for STUDENT cancellations made more than 14 days prior to class date.
• You will be notified two weeks prior to class date for class cancellation due to low enrollment. Registration fees will be refunded in full at that time.
